Ganga Clyde Environment and Economics Partnership

Ganga Clyde Environment and Economics Partnership

The Ganga Clyde Environment and Economic Partnership (GCEEP) is a major new initiative that will provide a significant trade and investment related bridge between the two nations.

Genesis

The seeds of this initiative were sown with the initiation in 2017 of a MoU between Hydronation initiative of Scotland and Government of India (National Mission for Clean Ganga) as well as with the Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies’ (cGanga at IIT Kanpur) signing research and innovation MoUs with various entities including the James Hutton Institute and University of Dundee. These led to creation of huge opportunities for both Scottish research institutes as well as technology companies to collaborate with their Indian counterparts to solve environment and sustainability issues that the world is facing.

The partnerships got further strengthened with the Ganga Connect exhibition and roadshow to the UK organised by National Mission for Clean Ganga, cGanga and the High Commission of India (London) which started with the Ganga Connect exhibition displayed at City of Glasgow College during COP-26 that was held in Glasgow, Scotland in November 2021.

A roundtable organised by the Consulate General of India in Edinburgh in November 2022, at which more than 25 Scottish companies participated, further identified the need to establish GCEEP.

Now with this momentum, the GCEEP is being launched at a special workshop on 19 January 2023 hosted by Rangers FC, Glasgow who are also the founding members of the GCEEP amongst others.

The core objective of GCEEP is to increase bilateral trade, investments and knowledge between Scotland and India in the area of environment and sustainability.

Impactirr is a founding partner to GCEEP.
